Bonjour mes amis! So you're three couples, ready for an adventure, and you're looking at the Sahara – Morocco and Tunisia – in the summer? C’est magnifique! Last-minute planning? No problem! I'll guide you through a unique and unforgettable journey focusing on the historical significance of the region. Let’s make this a trip you’ll cherish.

Summer in the Sahara is hot, very hot! Think temperatures soaring above 40°C (104°F). But the sunsets, the stars… breathtaking. Pack light, breathable clothing, hats, and plenty of sunscreen. Hydration is key; carry water bottles everywhere.

Our focus will be on historical sites. In Morocco, we’ll explore the ancient city of Marrakech, with its vibrant Djemaa el-Fna square (expect lively storytellers, musicians, and food stalls). We'll visit the Ksar of Ait-Ben-Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site – a stunning example of traditional earthen architecture. In Tunisia, we’ll journey to the captivating ruins of Carthage, a city with a rich history spanning millennia. We'll also see the incredible amphitheatre of El Jem, a testament to Roman engineering.

Food is a crucial part of the experience! Expect tagines (slow-cooked stews), couscous (a staple), and delicious pastries. Prepare your taste buds for a feast! Budget approximately €30-€50 per person per day for food and drinks. Remember to try mint tea – it's a cultural cornerstone.

Transportation will be a mix of comfortable private transport (estimate €500-€700 total for the trip for the six of you, depending on distances and specific locations) and maybe a camel ride for a truly Saharan experience (around €20-€30 per person).

Accommodation? We'll find charming riads (traditional Moroccan houses) and comfortable hotels. Budget €80-€150 per couple per night, depending on your preference. Local guides will enhance your understanding of the history and culture, costing approximately €50-€70 per day per guide. We can easily share one guide between the three couples.

The music and sounds of the Sahara are enchanting – from traditional Gnawa music to the rhythmic call to prayer. The people are warm and welcoming, though a little shyness might be evident initially. Respect local customs and traditions – dress modestly when visiting religious sites.

Expect to see date palms everywhere – a symbol of life in the desert. Donkeys and camels are common sights. The architecture is a blend of Berber, Arab, and Roman influences, depending on the location.
