Our Flores adventure kicks off with a flight to Mundo Maya International Airport (FRS) near Flores. From there, a pre-booked shuttle (approximately $30 per couple) will whisk you away to your charming hotel in Flores. We'll be staying in a lovely boutique hotel with stunning lake views, offering the perfect blend of comfort and local charm. (Hotel cost: approximately $100 per couple per night, for a total of $600 per couple for 3 nights.)
Day 1: We begin by exploring the charming streets of Flores Island, a picturesque town built on an island in Lake Petén Itzá. We'll wander through the colorful streets, admire the colonial architecture, and perhaps even stumble upon a local market bursting with exotic fruits, vibrant textiles, and handcrafted souvenirs. Lunch will be a delightful experience at a local restaurant, sampling traditional Guatemalan cuisine like pepían (a rich stew) or cochinita pibil (slow-roasted pork). In the afternoon, we’ll take a boat trip ($40 per couple) to visit the stunning Mayan ruins of Tikal. Day 3: We’ll dedicate the day to relaxing and enjoying the beauty of Lake Petén Itzá. You can opt for kayaking or paddle-boarding, enjoying the tranquility of the lake and the stunning views. We’ll have a relaxed lunch near the lake, savoring fresh seafood and enjoying the calm atmosphere. (Kayaking/paddle-boarding rental: $30 per couple; Lunch: $20 per couple.) Later, we'll return to the airport for our departure, taking with us memories of a truly unforgettable trip.
